My husband dreamed of going to Bhutan since he was a little kid. As a young couple, we have traveled a lot but we always ended up postponing this trip due to the high costs/long distance from Brazil. We finally managed to visit Bhutan this April and it was such a magical and especial experience! We have no words to thank Raven for making this happen and helping us along the way. A huge thank you to Deepak and Maya for replying us so fast and for shaping our itinerary as we wished. A special thank you to our travel companions, our guide Tashi and driver Thinley – Tashi has an impressive knowledge of Bhutan and its culture, especially temples and its art; Thinley drove us safely through our journey, always kept the car clean and ready for us. Both Tashi and Thinley were extremely kind to us, always wanted to make sure we were comfortable and happy with our accommodations and meals, they were always on time and shared so many great facts and histories about Bhutan. The car we traveled was a Creta/Hyundai, new and very spacious.
A few highlights from our trip (so many we cannot list all of them!) and the places we visited during our ten days in Bhutan:
Paro; Haa valley with Chele la hiking (it was a difficult hike for us due to the altitude and the snow, but Tashi helped us along the way and we were glad we did it because we felt more prepared to tiger’s nest); Tiger’s nest hike (INCREDIBLE!!!) with an amazing dinner and hot stone bath at a farmhouse afterwards (we also tried – and failed – archery); Thimphu and the weekend market where we could see the local products and try some doma, Takin Preserve where we meet the famous Takin, and later we also had an amazing dinner with Deepak and other groups that were travelling with Raven (it was a pleasure to meet you Deepak and thank you for the souvenir 🙂 ); Phobjikha; Tromgsa and Bumthang (we tried an amazing potato momo); Domkhar Tsechu (we had initially planned to go to Ura tsechu, but our guide presented us with another option so we could decide which one we wanted to go. We opted for domkhar because was the last day of the festival and there were more attractions/dancing than the first day of ura festival), Tashi dressed us in Bhutanese traditional clothes and it was such a nice experience!!! We also had a great picnic lunch arranged by Tashi, Thinley and our hotel; Punakha and Talo village. Our last night in Paro was so special thanks to Tashi and Thinley! They took us to momo corner where we had great momos as an appetiser for our great dinner at a local brewery (red rice beer tastes amazing!).
We highly recommend Raven Tours and Trecks and we are looking forward to coming back in the future!!!!!
