Festival Calendar

Festival CalendarFestivals in Bhutan largely comprise of tshechus, a religious masked dance festival, honoring Guru Rinpoche, the second Buddha. Mask dances of various kinds is what marks a tshechu distinct from other festivals. Tshechu is a festival where we find the Bhutanese culture manifest its utmost; the richly woven and intricately desinedghos and kiras worn, the packed lunch in bangchung(a traditional bamboo bowl), and dappa (traditional wooden plate) and large families feasting together are a part and parcel of a tshechu festival.
