Black Necked Cranes

Gangtey

Bhutan is a home to two winter roosting grounds of the rare bird species called the Black-necked Crane – one in Phobjikha in Wangduephodrang in the west and the other in Trashiyangtese in the east of the country. The birds are believed to be migrating from Tibet. Bird lovers and trekkers love to visit these places. Those wanting to experience a bit of adventure could bike or cycle to the places from your place of stay nearby. Apart from the rare bird species, the valleys of the two places are also a major tourist attraction. Find the Black Necked Crane Festival details here.
